Ulta Haul

I shouldn't be allowed to entered Ulta because I come out with more than I need. It's a problem and I recognize it. So there's that. I am so excited to share my reviews about these products. #Leggggo

Naked 3
I've hear good/bad reviews about this palette. As an owner of the Naked 1 &2 I had to check it out. I honestly think this one might be my favorite. It has a pink theme going on in this palette, and I LOVE it. Such awesome colors. (NAKED3)

Hempz Hydrating Bath & Body Oil
I've been really big on keeping my dry skin hydrated. I have been using the Neutrogena body oil since 8th grade and loved it. I don't think it's doing the trick, so picked this guy up at Ulta and I love it. I read a post on Lauren Conrad's blog "Body Moisturizing Must" that we need to apply body oil on before we bathe, because the top layer of our skin is made up of keratin oil. The temperature of the hot shower water softens it our natural body oil. So by applying it first it help seals in moisture better by keeping it locked in. (Hempz oil)

Loofah Body Buff
Why haven't I owned this thing sooner? It's the perfect exfoliation tool. I use the Bliss Hot Salt Scrub by applying it to my skin. I then take my body buff and rub into my skin using circular motions. It really gets my skin feeling smooth. I always exfoliate before I apply my self tanner.(body buff)

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
OMG...OMG.....OMGGGGGGGGGG! Yeah that sums it up. I am known for about trying any and every self tanner made by man. I love it so much I could cry. It has basically no smell only a little at first when you apply, but it smells pleasant. I apply it to a tanning mitt and rub it into my skin and let dry. (Body Mousse)

Ginger & Co Daily Body Lotion
With mallow, lemon balm, and rose this lotion smells like a midnight summer dream. It contains argan oil making it skin soft and smooth. I like that it isn't greasy and absorbs quickly. Also great price point at $10 (Daily Body Lotion)

So I bought both of  the new NYX radiant finishing powders. I have so many good things to say about these two. The 'Sunkissed' one is my favorite and is beautiful on the skin. I like to use it as a bronzer because it looks very natural on the face without being too bronzy. The lighter one is beautiful as well, but not my favorite.  It's perfect for brighting up the skin. Like if you accidentally applied too much bronzer it's great for toning it down. It softens up the look of your makeup. They are pretty much the knock off's of the Bobbi Brown brightening finishing powder. They do what they say and work great so pick one up.

I also picked up a few more items from the NYX section. I grabbed a retractable lip liner in 'Nude'. It goes perfectly with my signature  peachy/pink nude lip. It glides with ease and stays on for hours. LOVEIT.

Ok next I snagged one of the new butter lip balms. Color in 'Macaron'. My lips feel hydrated and smooth with it on. I like that it has some color, but not a ton. I guess you can say that it's better than your normal "Chapstick". I like and I will probably buy more colors.

Finally the matte finish makeup setting spray. This stuff is great I like to use it by spraying it on my lay down shadow brush. Then grab some shadow and apply it on the eyelid. Makes shadows POP, literally they pop and take your eyes from a 5 to a 10.

I could wear this wig forever and a day. I love it especially when I get bored. That's when I get creative and act a fool. So I wanted to see how I would look in drag makeup...haha yes, Drag Queen makeup! It was awesome and absolutely ridiculous. It looked so bad it hurt. Then the song "PRIMADONNA" by Marina & The Diamonds came on the ipod.  That's when I got in the zone and drew a little black heart on my cheek just like Marina. She's my girl crush...I LOVE her, and want to be her. I think I might be the only person on this planet who does stuff like this. Keep it weird y'all!

Follow your arrow

Just drooling over my lovely new necklaces.  I found these pretties last week at Buffalo Exchange. When I saw them I obviously had to have both, the little turquoise number. They told me some lady sells these to them. She dips the outside of the arrow heads in 24k gold. Pretty neat I thought.  I wish I had more info on where to contact the women who makes them. If anyone knows holler atchooo girl.

Glow: How To

So I had a request from my dear friend over at Ruffled Ink Designs who wanted me to share what I thought are the best products to highlight and to get that gorgeous glow. So Laura is pregnant and has an upcoming maternity shoot. Since she asked I'd thought I help and give my professional advise. She has the cutest style and is the definition of perfection. She is having a baby girl has been posting the cutest pic of her journey you should follow her story on Instagram: Thestorkdiary. Now here's your answer lars....

The key to get 'glowing' skin is to exfoliate, moisturize, and hydrate. (more info on that here) Great skin starts with skincare. If your skin looks good then most likely your makeup will too. But not all of us are makeup artist (like myself) and know how to create that perfect dewy glow like a pro. I'm here to help make it easy, ready? Let's go!

"Not to prime is a crime" - Napoleon Perdis Seriously guys this is the number one rule of makeup #jk you've got-s-ta prime though. It DOES make a difference especially in photography and also adds longevity to your foundation. Don't over prime. All you need is a veil of primer on the face. Less is more. My picks: Laura Mercier primer in 'Radiance', Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer, Smashbox photo finish primer in 'Luminzing'. PRO TIP: Try applying your primer with a brush and apply it before any moisturizer.

Choose a foundation that mimics skin. Be sure to go to a professional when buying a foundation so that you get color matched in the perfect color. Your foundation shouldn't be darker than your natural color. My Picks: Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, Garnier BB Cream, Dior Diorskin Airflash spray foundation. PRO TIP: Use fingers to warm up & apply foundation then blend with brush or beauty blender for a flawless application.
To get that bright eye healthy glow you NEED concealer. Now finding one that does it all is the hard part. I did just that for you, you can thank me later. P.S. when applying concealer please put on an eye cream before. Make sure to let it "sink in" before concealing.  My picks: Cle De Peau concealer, Josie Maran Argan creamy concealer crayon, Hardcandy Glamflouge heavy duty concealer. PRO TIP: Instead of dotting concealer on try feathering it out & don't be scared to use your fingers.
To complete your look add lots of bronzer. Start at your temples and make a C shape just under the cheek bone then turn it into a 3 alone the jaw bone. C into a 3 easy? Bronzer is important because it warms up the face. My picks: Hardcandy So Baked Bronzer in 'Tropic', Physicians Formula Happy Booster bronzing veil, Napoleon Perdis bronze PatrolPRO TIP: Be sure not to use a 'matte' bronzer you want some glow so grab an illumining one.
I can't pick just three, because highlighting is my favorite. There are so many options out there too. Everyone is different and prefers  different textures. Skin type also depends on what type of highlight works best on your skin. Dry? Use a cream or liquid highlighter. Oily, try a powder. Where should you highlight? You want to highlight the upper cheek bone, bridge of the nose, above the brows, and the cupids bow. My picks: Laura Mercier mineral illuminating powder, Smashbox Halo highlighting wand, Nars Albatross highlighting blush, Nars Copacabana illuminator, Napoleon Perdis loose eye color dust in 'Golden Peach', Bobbi Brown 'Beige' shimmer brick. PRO TIP: Be gentle. Yes, be gentle start off soft so that way you don't over do it. Then you can add more if you want.
I hope this was helpful and direct. Keep in mind if you're going for a bright 'glowy' look try to keep the basics neutral.  The eyes, soft nude natural tones look best. Define the look with a crisp cat eye and bold brows. Blush keep soft and downplay it, by using none or just bronzer. Find a lip color that feels true to you. Peach, pink, and nude lipsticks are my favorite.

This stuff  ^ in the photo above smells just like this....

Yes ma'am. The Kevin Murphy Fresh Hair dry shampoo is shiiiiit. Yeah I said it. Real life. The moment my hairdresser sprayed it in my hair I freaked and was like "is that marshmallow fluff"? He laughed and agreed with me. I have tried a ton of dry shampoo's and have failed to love one until now.

-Gives hair body and texture while removing oil and odor.
-Adds shine
-Paraben Free

Key to using it properly is to shake shake SHAKE and shake some more.

I've noticed with other dry shampoos is that they leave a powdery white residue unlike this one.

Literally drop all other dry shampoos and go out and buy the Kevin Murphy one now. You're hair and  nose will thank you I promise. But like why do I have so many? Hahaha I'm such a hoarder.

Can't stop won't stop loving Shiseido. Most of you gal's probably haven't heard or tried any beauty products from them. Honestly I didn't really take notice of Shiseido until awhile ago. I've been working in a store that sells Shiseido for over a year now and finally discovered how amazing this line is. It's very easy for this line to be over shadowed by other brands such as MAC and Bobbi Brown. I am telling you guys you need to go to your local beauty spot and check them out. They have an amazing line with outstanding products. I'm a tad bit obsessed, and have been wearing it for a week straight.

What I'm loving:
Shimmering Cream eye shadow in (BR306)
Radiant Lifting Foundation in SPF 17 (B40)
Benefiance NutriPerfect Day Cream SPF 18
Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream

Why I'm Loving:
The eye color is a cream shadow that finishes as a power and stays on like none other. The color is that perfect smokey brown I've been looking for. All I use is my finger tips to apply.

This foundation is hands down my favorite full coverage makeup that I've tried so far. It  goes on smooth and stays in place all day. It contains anti-aging skincare which is a plus.

The day cream works wonders for me since I am chronically dehydrated and my skin shows it. It keeps my skin hydrated and firm all day.

The eye cream is rich and makes me fall in love with it every time I put it on. Containing hyaluronic acid which is key to hydration makes applying concealer a breeze. Not only does it feel amazing on, but it has improved the appearance of my under eye.

Here are a few random facts about Shiseido:
-It is the fourth largest cosmetic company in the world.
-The worlds oldest cosmetic line being in the industry for 141 yrs.
-They own NARS cosmetics and Bare Minerals.

Wish I was as cool as Miley so I could pull off pink eye shadow and tie dye. I think her cd Bangerz was my favorite of 2013. Her song #GetItRight is my jammm and need to share! Best song ever to get ready to while getting dress and putting on makeup.

White Rock Lake is one of my favorite places in Dallas. From dog parks to random little trails it's a fun place to get lost and explore. That's just what I did. Across the bridge behind the doggie park was just the place for my pup and I to adventure. Big F.I.Y. it has been freezing in Dallas lately and this day was no exception. My weird little fingers were frozen like popsicles. That didn't stop me from being outside and enjoying the view. Don't let the sunshine fool you it's very deceiving. My new motto for this year is to be outside more than inside. Get in touch with nature and that kind of stuff lol. There's something about not being on your phone 24/7 that makes me feel more experienced. I noticed on days that I haven't checked Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter that I'm a happier more satisfied person.

I made a couple more of my embellished beanies for friends and a few family members for Christmas. I just wanted to share them with you guys, and hope you get inspired to make your own. A few tips on getting the right supplies for making your own.

Right now is the best time to purchase beanies. Why? Because you can find them on sale for super cheap. I recommend going to stores such as Cotton On and H&M. Now for the jewels you want to go to the sale sections of Forever 21 and H&M. You won't believe how cheap the jewelry at H&M goes. Who cares if its broken, you're going to break them anyway to apply them onto the beanie. Have fun!

Hello New Year

I've decided that in 2014 I'm gonna be more adventurous. What a better way to start the year than by exploring new places with my sidekick Zig. Yesterday on our way to the dog park I drove by this intriguing place that I had to explore. It looked so interesting that pulled over right then and there. Walked for a bit and came to this. I'm a sucker for anything that has been graffitied. It has been a great year and I'm looking forward to more adventures in 2014.
